Work That Booty!

I love my bum! I never really thought that I’d be writing that sentence, but it’s true. I love my bum and I love finding new ways to keep it in shape (and make it shapelier)! There’s so many bum-firming, toning, enlarging information floating around the net that it’s sometimes a little overwhelming. So I’ve decided to narrow it down and share my favourite and most effective tips to get that butt in shape!

1. Jumping Squats. Ok, so squats are probably the most obvious and popular way to tone up your tush, but why not mix it up. There are lot’s of variations of squats that are just as, if not more effective than the standard squat. Jumping squats will really get you feeling the burn and are super simple. Stand as you would a normal squat- stand tall, head up, chest out with a slight arch in your lower back, feet shoulder width apart- and squat down as you normally would, as if you’re going to sit on a seat behind you (not straight down). Now, instead of simply standing back tall, jump up and land straight back into the squat. You can either do these on the spot, or alternatively, if you’re training in an open space then jump forward and see how far you can jump. I always like to have a little competition with myself to see how far forward I can leap, but as always it’s best to get the technique right first. You should see yourself improving jump height and distance the more that you practice.

2. Hill Squats. Time to step it up a level? This is one that will really, really work you out!! Exactly the same as the jumping forward squat but… yup, you guessed it… up a hill! Start at the bottom and jump for 10-20 squats up the hill. Repeat 3 times for the ultimate workout. Make sure to choose a decent gradient hill that will get your legs working- and ideally not a slippery one! I don’t want to be encouraging any injuries!

3. Sprints. To be honest, this has to be my number one butt-shaping exercise. Get down to your local park or track if possible and once you’ve warmed up with a jog and moving stretches (butt-kicks, high knees, crossovers), you’re ready to get your Bolt on! Set out around 30 meters. You can use cones, a bag, lamp posts… anything that you can use to roughly mark the spot. Sprint from the beginning to the end before letting yourself slow into a jog. Turn around, giving yourself 30-60 seconds depending on your fitness and then sprint back to the start. Repeat this three times (so six 30 meter runs), rest for 5 minutes and repeat the whole set again.

P.S. When I say sprint, this means as fast as you can!!

4. Hill Sprints. Time to step it up again. Sprinting, but up a hill. Get to the top as quickly as possible, walk to the bottom as a breather and then time to get back to the top! The number of sets will depend on how long and steep the hill is, but don’t be lazy- this one can be really effective if you work hard enough.

5. Lunges. If you can get yourself into a gym then definitely use weights with this one! Whether you choose to use dumbbells or a bar,  the extra weight will make a huge difference! In the park go for jumping lunges. Very similar to the jumping squat but make sure to alternate legs as you jump.

6. Stepper. If you’re going to invest in any home workout equipment then it should be a stepper. They are great for working your legs, bum and other body parts! You can use your stepper to lunge, squat, jump or simply step your way to a toned bum!

7. Moisturise. Sooo this one might not be making your bum any bigger (unless you have an allergic reaction!!) but it will make it softer, smoother and help your skin to keep its elasticity through all that exercise, meaning no saggy bums in the future- yippee!

They’re my top bum toning tips. So whether you love or hate your bum, try these little recommendations and see if you see any effects! 🙂 xx

Puma Trinomic R698 Snow Splatter Pack

I first came across the Puma Trimonic R698 Snow Splatters at a recent Crepe City exhibition and knew that they would be a hit this season. Out of an entire exhibition of trainers, these beauts had some serious competition. But after spending a good couple of hours perusing the displays, I have to say that this Puma pack earned itself my top spot! And a well deserved one at that.

Puma have given the classic Trinomic R698 a nice little winter makeover and I for one, am a huge fan. Launched in icey seasonal colours these are some seriously cool trainers (sorry, I had to)! Available in three stylish minimal colourways all with a distinctive and subtle splatter detail- hence the name- they will look great with any outfit and are a definite one to add to your winter wardrobe.

ASOS SS15 Preview Collection

The ASOS SS15 Press Launch collection absolutely killed it- for women AND for men!! Not that I expected it to be anything less (I’m a huge ASOS fan and extremely lucky to work with them!) but I was more than impressed with this cheeky little preview.

Sooo what should you expect to hit the site over the next few months? Ladies first…

All that glitters, shimmers, shines and glimmers! Think iridescence, sequins, embellishment and heavy glitter. Party season, here we come! From fully embellished dresses to sparkly unicorn bags, SS15 is all about making an impression.

If, like me, you’re not usually a glitzy girl, then not to worry because ASOS have this covered too. Their ‘Bang Bang’ trend is a little more toned down. Black being the core colour with tassels and snakeskin adding a little more excitement. I’m especially loving the cut-out, lace-up boot heels shown below. Bang bang, indeed.

My personal faves from the preview were the glitter socks with sequin embellishment. Yes, sequin embellishment on socks. Who’d have thought… Obviously I’ll be wearing mine with slides and to no surprise, ASOS had that covered too. Flatform and platform sliders and more sporty flat leather ones, which might be a tad more practical! In fact, I have to say that  shoes were a particularly strong category, which may cause some problems for my upcoming wages.

The men’s collection saw strong shoe game too- leather slides like the women’s, plimsolls and brogues. All in black or white, which was a huge theme across most of the SS15 collection with texture doing most of the talking. Sounds slightly boring but I can assure you that it’ll be far from. Leather, fishnet, mesh and fabrics that I have no idea what to call them, all made an appearance. The range was also heavily influenced by sports- woohoo! Sweatpants, shorts and relaxed tees smartened up with statement jackets.

I wanted to steal the black fishnet bomber for myself and I’m sure that it will be quick to sell when it hits the site.

Not sure if you’re a fan of the bucket hat guys, but if so, you know where to head (ASOS…). I’m not too keen on socks, slides, shorts and bucket hats all together, but I’m sure some of you strapping young men will prove me wrong.

Overall, ASOS are going to be giving other high street retailers a run for their money this season. With the variety of product on ASOS there really is something for every fashion-conscious guy or girl.

Keep watching ASOS for these SS15 goodies to drop. If you’re not familiar with the site I recommend checking the New In page for all the fresh styles. Happy Shopping! xx

Men with Style: Thai Matic

Working in menswear, men’s style it’s something that I’m super passionate about. I understand that sometimes male fashion needs more appreciation than it’s given and know that many men would like a little more guidance than what’s actually available. I’ve been wanting to involve guys in Tigeress Lifestyle for a little while now, but never really knew where to start so I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting regular sports, fashion and health features for my male followers, that we can all enjoy this page together.

My first feature’s called ‘Men with Style’ and will showcase different guys who I personally think wear clothes well. Who to feature in my first post was easy. If there’s any man that I know with a great wardrobe, it’s this one. I’d like to introduce you all to the very lovely, talented and stylish London-based music artist and photographer, Thai Matic. A man whose creativity is reflected through his personal style.

I met Thai earlier this year when working with him on my first ever film shoot and it wasn’t long before I noticed this his attention to detail and eye for styling was much greater than other photographers that I’d previously worked with. I’m a massive fan of the whole street/sportswear vibe, so was beyond excited when out of his bag came limited edition Supreme and vintage Levis for me to wear! All his own of course, which I unfortunately had to give back… But it was then that I knew that this man had style.

Men in street or sportswear are great, but it does make all of the difference in how it’s being worn- something that Thai has mastered. Effortlessly mixing street with basics, causal with statement or sports with smart (as seen below), he’s managed to create his own unique fashion identity.

I asked Thai to send me an outfit of his choice and I won’t lie, what he sent surprised me. I’m not used to seeing this man so… smart. His usual vibe involves jeans or a statement jacket. But what Thai sent was perfect. An unexpected mix of smart and casual.

Thai’s made his matching Zara suit and white shirt instantly more eye-catching (and relaxed) by pairing with a bright Supreme number and pure white trainers. This daring combo is great for any guy wanting to make a statement at those winter events in the city…

So men, if you’re wanting to smarten up for the busy festive period ahead whilst still rocking the whole street/sportswear trend, try taking some inspo from my man of the month. You won’t regret it.
