ASOS SS16 Press Event

I was lucky enough to bag an invite to the ASOS SS16 Press Event held at their Camden-based London HQ. For womenswear it was all things bright, beautiful with lots of sparkle. And embellishment, lots of embellishment. It seems that SS16 will adopt a prettier look than last season. They’ll be less unisex and less sportsluxe (which I’m quite disappointed about) however perhaps a girlier sports vibe will takeover?

There was some tough amongst the glitz though, with gold metal and leather pieces and killer stilettos with knee-high leg wraps- looks like this one will be following through from AW15. Yippee!
Bohemian made an appearance as it did last summer but this time gypsy inspo will be even more apparent. There will be embroidery and lots of it. My fave piece from this look was of course the pink-sleeve, black body bomber, which was boho’d up with the addition of heavy embroidery.

Then there was the men’s, which adopted a rather different story. Here it was all about texture, colour and fabrication. Draping mixed with tailoring for that day to night look. I can’t lie I was actually quite envious of the shades that men will be rocking this spring/summer. Dusty pink, lots of nude and of course, khaki. Dare I say it… Very Kanye!

For a different look there will be distressed denim, stripes and metallic jersey- nice! Oh and the men even had a version of my fave bomber from the women’s collection. His and hers? I’m down.

Lastly, ASOS thought that their exclusive brand Reclaimed Vintage deserved its own room and rightly so. A similar story to the ASOS main collection for both men and women here, with the addition of a bit more glam for the men. If you haven’t seen Reclaimed before I definitely recommend that you check them out on the ASOS site. You won’t be disappointed.

That’s all from me for now, but I’ll be back soon with some more sportier posts and health tips. Lots of love, Kirby xx
