It’s here- the last weekend of August, which for a lot of us means a longgg weekend! Yipppee! But by the end of it, we can sometimes be left feeling a little worse for wear. My top tip for eliminating that hangover? Watermelon.
That’s right, this trendy fruit- apparently Beyonce’s fave for 2014- can really help to zap that morning after trauma (unfortunately Lemonade doesn’t quite have the same affect). Packed with both water and nutrients, it holds just what your body needs for a speedy recovery. Keep a carton of watermelon juice in the fridge or the whole fruit in your fruit bowl and indulge first thing. You’ll soon be feeling fresh for the day ahead- even if it does just involve lounging on the sofa! Happy Bank Holiday, guys. Enjoy! xx
I was reading an article online, which addressed the issue of teenagers and what, as teens, we all may have done differently if only we’d have known what we know now. It discussed self-love, overcoming breakups and not conforming to what we’re told we’re supposed to look or act like. A great idea and a very helpful read for many I’m sure. Only there’s one thing that played on my mind. The same issues- lacking self-love, dealing with break ups terribly and aspiring to certain ideals- all still exist in the adult world. If we can dish out the advice to others, be that children, teenagers or peers, why can we not abide by it ourselves?
We all know how difficult it can be to stick to your exercise plans. Things get in the way, time runs short or we’re too exhausted to even think about dropping into press ups. Well, all that can change with my series of No Excuse Workouts!
They’re designed with a busy lifestyle in mind and don’t get in the way of other commitments. Requiring absolutely no equipment whatsoever you can take these with you anywhere and everywhere. Perfect for your living room, outdoors or even your hotel suite and it doesn’t stop there… They’re short and effective with the 3 Minute Series being, well, only 3 minutes long meaning that you could even get up 3 minutes earlier than usual and have a quick session before work!
There’s 6 videos, so you can choose which area you want to focus on (or opt for full body if you want an all over blast) and they can all be amended accordingly to your own fitness level.
So when time’s running short, you’re a little tired or you’re simply trying to think of any excuse in the world not to exercise (but know that you really should), you know where to head… No Excuses!
P.S. You can also head to my Instagram @kirbyanne for my favourite lazy girl exercises. Effective but requiring minimal effort- you can even do them whilst watching TV! xx
Earlier this year I shared with you the magic of Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. Now I’m bringing to you another Blistex treat, Blistex MedPlus. Containing conditioning Cocoa Butter along with cooling Menthol, this is a fabulous find for lips in need of a little (or a lot of) extra TLC…
Having recently travelled abroad, I somehow managed to slip up on my usually careful lip sun protection routine and the results weren’t pretty! Dry, cracked and quite frankly painful lips aren’t something that I’d aimed to achieve, but I was stuck with them anyway. Racing to the shops in search of a remedy, I planned to pick up the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser that I had previously loved. Yet when scouring the lip balm isle something else caught my eye. Recommended for distressed lips in need of rescue I headed straight to the checkout.
Overnight my lips were visibly healthier and although not yet back to their hydrated self, the Blistex MedPlus was definitely working. By day two my lips were back to normal and by day three they were more hydrated than ever! I have to say that this is by far the best lip care that I have ever used and that is a very bold statement. I still love my other balms of course, but when my lips are screaming for help, MedPlus is definitely what I’ll be reaching for.
Oh, and it also has SPF 15 so is a great one to protect as well as repair!
Available for £2.30 at Boots and Sainsbury’s. Choose from either a pot or the cherry flavoured stick.
It’s a well known fact that wearing sportswear that you feel great in makes you workout harder. OK, maybe not a fact but there are plenty of studies out there (including my own experience) that back it up. So the outfit’s on point, the trainers are matching- kind of- hair’s slicked back and you’re ready for business. You hit the treadmill, your moment to shine and before long you need to take a sip of your ever-so-vital water. You reach for the bottle and…oh…suddenly not so fab. It’s the same old scruffy Tesco’s own water bottle that you’ve used for the zillionth time. It doesn’t even look attractive to drink from never mind helping to boost your gym-pro attitude.
Now perhaps it’s not as dramatic as this, but let’s face it, there’s are plenty of fun water bottles out there to make even the most exercise-hating person want to buy one (and to jazz up your gym outfit). Here’s my pick of the best! xx
Nail varnish. Always a tricky one. If it’s not too thin, it’s too thick. Chips too easily. Dries way too slowly or worst of all, ruins your nails. Well, Barry M have brought something new to the table- a nail polish that is actually good for our nails (and does a nice job when it comes to consistency, lasting-power and dry time too)!
Using the one beauty product that I swear by, Coconut Oil, along with the ever-so-hydrating Coconut Water, they have developed an ingenious moisturising nail paint to help our nails look fabulous with or without polish. The special formula is designed to repair and nurture nails and the anti-oxidising properties of coconut help to remove impurities.
There are nine colours to choose from, all fairly soft pastel hues and named rather tropically. There’s the nude palette; Skinny Dip, Tiki Hut, Sunkissed and Star Fish. The pinks; Aloha and Flamingo. The blues; Laguna and Bikini and then my favourite lilac, Surfboard.
There’s no need for a topcoat, in fact, it actually works more effectively without! The varnish gets straight to work to nourish and strengthen nails with it’s coconutty goodness. I was impressed with how easy it was to apply- I don’t have the steadiest hand but somehow my nails looked salon-worthy- and it lasted a good four days without chipping at all.
If you want to give it a go for yourself you can shop them online for £4.99 each here. Let me know what you think! xx
Happy Monday! I hope you’ve all had a fab start to the week. Despite falling flat on my face in the middle of a busy street today (oooopsie!) my day has been pretty nice but it just got better, as a brand new video has launched over on my YouTube channel. It involves a lot of giggling- enough to cheer even the most mundane Monday up- oh and plenty of tips on how to manage curly hair!
Although I usually wear my hair straight, it’s actually naturally curly and I think it’s about time that I start to appreciate that a little more.
