Yummy Snack Alert: Peanut Butter On Apple!

Snacking is a major part of leading a healthy lifestyle. It’s important in order to keep your metabolism running (and hence burn more calories) and also to keep you energised throughout the day. However, when it comes down to what to snack on, it can be rather challenging.

Snacks all add up as part of your daily calorie, fat, salt, sugar intake, which means that what we eat between meals can really affect our overall diet. Personally, I find that when I’m bored I’ll head straight to the fridge- even if I’m not hungry! This can be super dangerous if the fridge is packed with not-so-healthy temptations. So I decided to set up the regular Tigeress Yummy Snack Alert- snacks that you can enjoy without feeling guilty!

Today’s Yummy Snack Alert, peanut butter on apple, is one of my faves. Delicious, one of your five a day and filling. This is definitely a winner. Simply slice your apple, spread your peanut butter and there you have it- fruity goodness with a kick of tummy-loving protein!

Peanut butter makes you feel fuller for longer, improves energy levels and is great for your bowel, while the natural sugars in apples are great for a healthy sugar boost. This is also a particularly good one if you’re trying to reduce carbs. Give it a try and see what you think. Enjoy! xx

Tea Tree Oil

My top tip for blemish-free skin is Tea Tree Oil. Whenever I feel like an unwanted spot is about to emerge I head straight to my magic bottle of Tea Tree. Soothing skin and banishing blemishes, it’s the perfect way to zap spots quickly. Not only does it work amazingly, it also smells super fresh making my sinuses reap the benefits as well!

I’d recommend this little Tea Tree Oil gem from The Body Shop. It can be applied directly to the skin, where most Tea Tree oils cannot, and instantly soothes spots and encourages them to disappear! At £7 it’s definitely worth the purchase. xx

Time for some TLC!

With all the strain that we’ve put our bodies through during the party season, it’s bound to show somewhere. Whether it’s through illness, weight gain, eye bags, dull skin (the list goes on), it’s likely that we’re all not looking or feeling our best at the moment. My body’s cry for help is always through my skin- I look much paler than usual and often find unwanted blemishes making an appearance. Time for some good old TLC!

Sleep. Use this weekend to catch up on your sleep. You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference this can make- you’ll feel much more alive, have brighter eyes and your skin will look that little bit healthier!

Relax. Take some ‘you’ time by running a nice bubble bath or having a little pamper session. This will help your body to unwind after a hectic December!

Vitamin C. Stock up on Vit C rich food such as strawberries, kiwi, broccoli, yellow peppers, kale and tomatoes. Vitamin C is well-known for it’s illness preventing properties. It protects cells helping to keep them nice and healthy.

Run. Although you may think that running will tire you out, it actually energises our body and mind way more than sitting around ever will! Make time to go for a run. It will clear your mind and have you instantly feeling revitalised.

Always remember to look after your body no matter how busy you are. The January Fitness Challenge is all about improving our health and bodies. You can’t be your best if you’re run down! xx

January Fitness Challenge

I always think that ‘New Year, New You’ is a little bit ridiculous. The same as when people wait until Monday to start something different. If you want to change something about yourself or your life, why not do it now?! ‘This is my year’ reads time and time again on New Year’s Day, only for everyone to fall back into the same routine after a week or so of the hype. In fact, admit it, who’s fallen at the first hurdle of their New Year diet by ordering a take-away to nurse that New Year’s Day hangover…

With 2015 quickly approaching (11 days, can you believe it?!), I’m expecting to see the same again. OK, so if we really are waiting for next year’s arrival to change our lives, then let’s actually do something about it and I’ll be joining you. I’ll be embarking on my January Fitness Challenge and I’d love for you to be part of it too!

I’ll be eating clean, drinking less and working out non-stop, all the while sharing my progress with you little tigers. The aim is to improve your fitness for January, setting you up for the entirety of 2015. There will be new posts on Tigeress Lifestyle every single day of Jan, filling your inbox with fitness, food and sports fashion tips throughout the month to help keep you motivated on your New Year fitness challenge!

Fancy it? All it involves is 20 minutes of exercise every day and filling your body with pure goodness. It”s not going to be easy, but it is achievable and will set you up for a active and healthy 2015.

What I’ve learnt is that nothing will change with your life unless you do something about it- and stick at it! So, join me on my January Fitness Challenge and see a healthy you for the New Year. They’ll be workout and nutrition tips on the blog next week (yes, in 2014!!) to get you prepared. After all, 2015 is upon us and there’s no time like the present. xx

A little note to say…

I mentioned a couple of weeks back that I’ve recently become involved in a health business (post right here). I’m obsessed with fitness and nutrition so it seemed only right for me to help other people to improve their health and to meet their body/fitness goals, be that weight loss or gain, toning, muscle building or just general health (increased energy, healthier skin, hair and nails).

Well, one of my clients is my very own mum and I wanted to update you all with her weight loss progress because I am super proud of her! Join me in giving her a huge congratulations, as she managed to loose 11lbs in the FIRST WEEK of her new nutrition plan! Absolutely amazing!!
