Spin classes- the general consensus is that you either love them or you hate them. A little like marmite, right? I’ll keep this short but sweet. I used to really dislike spin. Like, really dislike spin. That was until I was offered a place at Core Collective to train up as one of their Cycle instructors. I didn’t of course mention that I wasn’t a spin fan, but instead decided to take on the challenge and train up to be part of the team. It seemed like a great place to work, I wanted to start teaching some kind of fitness class and it would fit perfectly alongside my modelling and blogging. So, I hit the bike behind the scenes and after many one-to-one sessions and a nerve-wracking audition, I was finally ready for my debut.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Never did I think that I would actually run a half marathon. Growing up as a sprinter and jumper, long distance running was never on my to-do list. In fact, it wasn’t until I was at university that I ran the furthest that I’d ever run- 5km! Looking back now, oh how far I’ve come.
This month I ran my first ever half marathon- The Vitality Big Half. Here’s how I got on…
New Balance have launched a brand new trainer, the Fresh Foam Crush, and I led a workout for a bunch of fitness babes to put them to the test!
It’s official, Puma have joined forces with brand new gym Metabolic London to offer free, yes free, classes to the public every Saturday 3-4pm. The announcement came last week and kicked off with their launch event on Saturday, where a selection of fitness fanatics (including myself) took to the Mornington Crescent based gym to be put through their paces by gym founder, Lawrence.
Working with Johno MacCarthy was a dream. One of the most down-to-earth people that I’ve ever met and an amazing photographer at that. If you haven’t seen his work previously, then be prepared to start spotting it everywhere, as this guy has some serious talent and drive (the best combo).
We teamed up on a late summer weekend and shot away around the picturesque streets of Notting Hill. Here’s what we created…
This week I headed to the streets of Shoreditch, London, with my good friend, photographer and New Yorker, Dave Gershman.
Dave has recently been on a whirlwind tour of the world through his travel journalism (what can’t this guy do?!) and has stopped off in London as his final destination before travelling back to the Big Apple.
As a street photographer, Dave naturally wants to take pictures everywhere and anywhere- regardless of people’s willingness to have their photo taken- so it can definitely be interested when exploring the city with him. Likewise, it was also the perfect opportunity to get some snaps of my own, so that’s exactly what we did.
Taking over one cobbled Shoreditch backstreet, we turned the pavement into catwalk and began shooting away. Of course, being a street life photographer you have to be quick, so within a few clicks from Dave and an array of dramatic poses and struts from myself, we had all the content we needed. Here are the results, featuring my sandstone New Balance accessories…
Yesterday I headed to East London for an afternoon & evening of fun with Puma Women. In perfect timing with Internation Women’s Day, Puma decided to celebrate their Do You campaign, which aims to empower women everywhere. Just my thing!! The event started with a super cute styling session and was followed by a jam-packed after party.
The Do You Styling Session
Held in the iconic railway arches of London, Puma pulled out all the stops to provide myself and a whole load of other influencer/creative/kick-ass babes with the chance to style their very own shoot. With rails of the new SS17 Puma lifestyle range and in-demand stylist Nayaab Tania at hand, we definitely had all the right tools to create the perfect spring summer athleisure look.
There was a hair and makeup station, masses of clothes to choose from and London’s hottest female photographers Emma Breschi and Loan Love. What more could you want! Nayaab kitted me out with the cuttest oversized flare pants (with a slit up both legs of course) and obviously Puma trainers to complete the outfit, while Loan Love snapped away & even left me with this tiny Polaroid to take home- how sweet!
My second outfit was from the Puma X Fenty range by Rihanna and it was heavenly. A matching tracksuit with baggy pants and a cropped sweat; oversized, ridiculously comfy and in Khaki (one of my fave colours) it couldn’t have been more perfect. Unfortunately I don’t have any images just yet of this outfit but I’ll make sure to post them over on my Instagram (@kirbyanne) as soon as the professional shots are sent over!
Throughout the session we were kept fully hydrated- ish- with prosecco & a variety of juices at the Puma bar. Yum!
As predicted, the party did not disappoint. In the same location as the styling session there was a fully stocked free bar, music from the baddest female DJs (girl power at its finest), an in-demand photo booth and a room full of people bringing nothing but positive energy. We danced, socialised, drank and basically had a load of fun in true girl boss style. Even the boys came down to celebrate!
So here’s a huge thank you to Puma Women! Don’t forget to keep an eye out over on my Instagram (@kirbyanne) for the results from my photo shoot.
Lots of love to all of the amazing women out there- let’s show the world what we’re made of!!
