ASOS AW15 Press Event

This week I was lucky enough to bag an invite to the ASOS AW15 press day, which meant that I got to have a sneaky peak at what’s in store from one of the world’s leading fashion retailers! Set to hit the site from June all the way through to the end of the year, ASOS will be dropping some seriously strong styles that I’m already making room in my wardrobe for- from the women’s and men’s collections!  There was a lot to lust over so it’s only right that I break it down to give all areas the attention that they deserve.

Ladies first…

Khaki Queen! Khaki, khaki and more khaki. If you’re wearing one colour this autumn winter, it should be… do I really need to say? Khaki will be everywhere and ASOS will be giving you plenty of choice on how to wear it. This military green was mixed with washed out navy and faded grey for the ultimate seasonal look. From scarves to coats to a particularly eye-catching fully embellished unitard (please let me have this right now!!), ASOS have it covered. Attention girls, it’s time to go green!

Sparkle, Don’t Fade. In time for the party season, ASOS will be providing plenty of sparkle for all of your Winter events. Sequins, beaded embellishment, gems, glitter and metallic garms will be filling your ASOS saved items (or basket) in no time. I hate to think of winter before summer has even begun but hello Christmas glitter fun!

Heeled Heaven. Heels. To. Die. For. There’s nothing more to be said…

Delicate Jewels. Although the dresses were screaming for attention, ASOS decided not to go quite so statement on the jewellery. Simple accessories will be the way this AW and there was a definite nod towards gold.

Not to forget the guys!

Mono Men. Practically the entire menswear collection was monotone and it worked. For men, this season is all about a simple colour palette with plenty of texture and shape. The fur bomber had to be my fave- a statement piece that somehow managed to stay reserved (second from right…see what I mean?).

Sports King. Sports is a key trend for men this year (yippeee). Think longline, lightweight, hoods and scuba. There were plenty of tees, tailored sweatpants and sports-inspired jackets. Smart sports will be the only way to go.

Leather It Up. Leather accessories will be a key look for men come Autumn. Leather shoes, bags and even bucket hats were on show. ASOS mixed it up with metallic versions for the more daring male and snakeskin didn’t go amiss.

Quality Touches. Similar to the women’s jewellery, it’s not going to be about statement pieces but instead we’ll see subtle touches of quality. Again, gold was key, with hints of dirty silver and I particularly loved the baby blue stone pendant below…

ASOS deserve a big pat on the back for this one. I was unsure that they’d be able to outdo the last press event but once again, they have pushed their standards to the next level. Well done, ASOS- you’ve got us hooked! xx

London Collections: Men

London Collections: Men (the men’s version of London Fashion Week) has hit London and it’s all go around the city. Models racing between shows, backstage snaps filling our Insta feeds, celebs, bloggers and fashion insiders all eagerly awaiting to view what designs will be hitting the catwalk and not to forget the flustered photographers fighting for the perfect shot. It’s manic and I love it!

LCM always gets me that little bit more excited than LFW. Strange, as surely I should be more intrigued as to what creations will be influencing my clothing for the up-coming year? Perhaps it’s all those beautiful men showing off their hot bods and chiselled faces, or maybe it’s the fact that David Gandy is definitely going to be in town and I might have a chance of bumping into him and him whisking me off my feet… Hmmm, just maybe. But what I think really gets me excited about the Men’s Collections is the acceptance of male fashion within the industry.

Menswear has exploded over the recent years and men can now be involved in fashion without being ridiculed. It’s amazing. I see LCM as a breakthrough across the world and one that’s only going to get stronger. If you haven’t seen the collection yet, have a little look below for a series of my favourite shots from the shows so far. xx

Men with Style: Thai Matic

Working in menswear, men’s style it’s something that I’m super passionate about. I understand that sometimes male fashion needs more appreciation than it’s given and know that many men would like a little more guidance than what’s actually available. I’ve been wanting to involve guys in Tigeress Lifestyle for a little while now, but never really knew where to start so I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting regular sports, fashion and health features for my male followers, that we can all enjoy this page together.

My first feature’s called ‘Men with Style’ and will showcase different guys who I personally think wear clothes well. Who to feature in my first post was easy. If there’s any man that I know with a great wardrobe, it’s this one. I’d like to introduce you all to the very lovely, talented and stylish London-based music artist and photographer, Thai Matic. A man whose creativity is reflected through his personal style.

I met Thai earlier this year when working with him on my first ever film shoot and it wasn’t long before I noticed this his attention to detail and eye for styling was much greater than other photographers that I’d previously worked with. I’m a massive fan of the whole street/sportswear vibe, so was beyond excited when out of his bag came limited edition Supreme and vintage Levis for me to wear! All his own of course, which I unfortunately had to give back… But it was then that I knew that this man had style.

Men in street or sportswear are great, but it does make all of the difference in how it’s being worn- something that Thai has mastered. Effortlessly mixing street with basics, causal with statement or sports with smart (as seen below), he’s managed to create his own unique fashion identity.

I asked Thai to send me an outfit of his choice and I won’t lie, what he sent surprised me. I’m not used to seeing this man so… smart. His usual vibe involves jeans or a statement jacket. But what Thai sent was perfect. An unexpected mix of smart and casual.

Thai’s made his matching Zara suit and white shirt instantly more eye-catching (and relaxed) by pairing with a bright Supreme number and pure white trainers. This daring combo is great for any guy wanting to make a statement at those winter events in the city…

So men, if you’re wanting to smarten up for the busy festive period ahead whilst still rocking the whole street/sportswear trend, try taking some inspo from my man of the month. You won’t regret it.
