London Collections Men SS17

London Collections Men- the men’s version of London Fashion Week- hit the city this weekend for the second and final time this year. The biannual event held every January and June highlights the growing popularity and importance of men’s fashion- a celebration of the British menswear industry. Myself and my boyfriend, Aaron, headed to some of the shows with Select Model Management to see what’s next for menswear.

I was surprised at just how coherent the shows were, many influenced by world issues and the impact that they have on society. On us. QASIMI did particularly well at communicating this by hosting a digital presentation. Mounted screens showed shocking images of war alongside children viewing the ongoing violence that surrounds them. Other similarities included colour scheme, key items and ummm, sand…

It’s clear that whites, nudes and beiges are going to be a hit. Oh and soft and dirty pinks (yay)! There was a lot of red and orange adding contrast to the otherwise pale colours. Blue and yellow also made the cut. Key items wise we’re talking below-the-knee lightweight tailored jackets, sandals and wide leg pants. It was all very desert I have to say, which brings us on nicely to the sand. Both CMMN SWDN and BERTHOLD had sand on set and QASIMI replaced sand with a sand dune shaped metal structure. Take a look for yourself. Here’s the best of the shows in pictures…

ASOS SS16 Press Event

I was lucky enough to bag an invite to the ASOS SS16 Press Event held at their Camden-based London HQ. For womenswear it was all things bright, beautiful with lots of sparkle. And embellishment, lots of embellishment. It seems that SS16 will adopt a prettier look than last season. They’ll be less unisex and less sportsluxe (which I’m quite disappointed about) however perhaps a girlier sports vibe will takeover?

There was some tough amongst the glitz though, with gold metal and leather pieces and killer stilettos with knee-high leg wraps- looks like this one will be following through from AW15. Yippee!
Bohemian made an appearance as it did last summer but this time gypsy inspo will be even more apparent. There will be embroidery and lots of it. My fave piece from this look was of course the pink-sleeve, black body bomber, which was boho’d up with the addition of heavy embroidery.

Then there was the men’s, which adopted a rather different story. Here it was all about texture, colour and fabrication. Draping mixed with tailoring for that day to night look. I can’t lie I was actually quite envious of the shades that men will be rocking this spring/summer. Dusty pink, lots of nude and of course, khaki. Dare I say it… Very Kanye!

For a different look there will be distressed denim, stripes and metallic jersey- nice! Oh and the men even had a version of my fave bomber from the women’s collection. His and hers? I’m down.

Lastly, ASOS thought that their exclusive brand Reclaimed Vintage deserved its own room and rightly so. A similar story to the ASOS main collection for both men and women here, with the addition of a bit more glam for the men. If you haven’t seen Reclaimed before I definitely recommend that you check them out on the ASOS site. You won’t be disappointed.

That’s all from me for now, but I’ll be back soon with some more sportier posts and health tips. Lots of love, Kirby xx

Patta x Carhartt WIP “Wild at Hartt” Collection

A new menswear collaboration is set to launch this week, which is causing a little bit of a buzz on the streetwear scene. We’re soon to see Dutch brand Patta and the US company Carhartt WIP join forces as a celebration of Patta’s 10th anniversary.

We were all able to have a sneak peak at the collection in their recent Lookbook launch but the official release is this Thursday. The launch will take place at London’s Goodhood store- followed by an after party of course!

What to expect from the collection? Think autumnal shades of tan, black and grey, minimal designs and immense quality. You’ll see some of Carhartt’s iconic pieces reworked for the collab, including their Chore Coat and Active Jacket. Minimal with statement slogans seems to be the trend for men this winter, which is exactly what we’ll get from this collection along with some definite investment pieces. Watch out for the launch in retailers 4th December, 2014. xx
