Facial Skincare SOS!

Has winter taken it’s toll on your skin? It’s common for your skin to feel more dull, look a little more tired and be all-round less glowy during the cold winter months than it is over the summertime.  Well, don’t worry- I’m here to help!

Being a little tomboy as a child and with the nature of my job, I’ve always tended not to wear much make-up. Meaning that on a day-to-day basis, my skin is often completely bare. I prefer it that way, but it does mean that when winter hits and I no longer have my summer bronze to do the job, I need to look even more so towards my skincare routine to keep my skin glowing. I am obsessed with moisturising (I moisturise my face three times per day and body at least once, sometimes twice), so it’s no surprise that I’ve trialled a fair few products. Here are my fave ones to give your skin that much needed boost!

The Body Shop Body Yogurt

So, Summer has officially come to an end (even if the weather isn’t saying so just yet- I’m actually typing this while sat outside trying to soak up the last of the sun) and the thought of Autumn has me scrambling to hold onto my tan for as long as naturally possible. FYI, I am not a sun bed user and aren’t so much a fan of fake tan, so they are out of the equation! I could book flights to a hotter destination, which may still happen, but as a quick fix to maintain healthy glowing skin I’m choosing to ramp up the moisturising!

My Favourite Skincare For Face & Body

Darker evenings and colder mornings are upon us, which means one thing. Winter is near. The weather may be looking pretty dull, but that doesn’t mean that your skin has to too. Here are my go-to skincare products for keeping my skin healthy, hydrated and glowing throughout the cold winter months.

For Your Face

Deep Hydration

If you’re looking for a product to intensely hydrate your skin then Dr. Roebuck’s Ultimite Hydrating Serum (£51) at Selfridges may just do the trick. Dr. Roebuck’s pride themselves on using natural and ‘minimal ingredients with maximum results.’ I headed to Selfridges and picked up a personalised serum for my skin type and am in love (ask in store for details). I find that the serum also help add that dewy look to your skin if you’re going make up free.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

With holiday season in full swing, it’s vital that we keep our skin healthy and moisturised. Daily moisturising is key- I opt for day and night- as well as plenty of water of course! But when it comes to layering my skin with the thirst-quenching good stuff, my number one go-to moisturiser is Vita Coco Coconut Oil and I am OBSESSED!

It’s not every day you can say that you can eat your moisturiser. Well with Vita Coco you can. It’s natural, raw and organic, meaning no nasty chemicals to get in the way.  It’s also cold pressed therefore packed with all of it’s original goodness. It will keep your skin soft, hydrated and is my now not-so-secret way of maintaining my holiday glow throughout summer and beyond. Simply apply to your body (I would avoid adding to your face, as it’s a little… oily) wait to dry and you’re good to go. It’s especially great to wear before bed and if you want to give your feet some TLC just layer up the coconut oil, slip on your socks and dream the night away. You’ll wake up feeling silky smooth!

Available in 500ml or 750ml tubs for £9.99 and £14.50 respectively. You only need to use a tiny amount so one tub can last months! x

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser

After months of battling with the cold UK weather, it’s this time of year that my lips suffer the most. They’re particularly paying for it this time round and have chapped to the point where it hurts for me to even smile. Not great at all.

In an attempt to battle the dryness, I’d been applying my regular lip salve non-stop (one perfect for summer with SPF and a slight gold shimmer), but it seemed that they were past revival. Gallons of water and half a lip salve later, I was beginning to lose all hope. That was until a recommendation came from a close friend- Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. It had to be worth a try…

Priced very reasonably at just £2.59 (currently on offer for £1.69 at Superdrug) I picked one up immediately! I’ve been using mine for just under three days, applying around three times per day and my lips are already noticeably healthier. Although not fully healed just yet- I can’t expect miracles- they are definitely under repair! And finally, I can smile again. Woohoo!

It may not be the fanciest of lip salves, however it definitely does the job. Containing Shea Butter, it’s definitely more of a moisturiser than a balm and Blistex were right to name it as ‘intense’.  If you suffer from dry lips or simply want a boost if hydration, I would definitely recommend. xx
