Facial Skincare SOS!

Has winter taken it’s toll on your skin? It’s common for your skin to feel more dull, look a little more tired and be all-round less glowy during the cold winter months than it is over the summertime.  Well, don’t worry- I’m here to help!

Being a little tomboy as a child and with the nature of my job, I’ve always tended not to wear much make-up. Meaning that on a day-to-day basis, my skin is often completely bare. I prefer it that way, but it does mean that when winter hits and I no longer have my summer bronze to do the job, I need to look even more so towards my skincare routine to keep my skin glowing. I am obsessed with moisturising (I moisturise my face three times per day and body at least once, sometimes twice), so it’s no surprise that I’ve trialled a fair few products. Here are my fave ones to give your skin that much needed boost!

Tenzing 100% Natural Energy Drink

Energy drinks. Always a touchy subject in the fitness world. Should we drink them? Should we not? As much as I’ll have a cheeky one every now and again (mainly after a big night out), my personal opinion is to give them a miss. Packed with sugar and god knows what else, they’re not exactly the healthiest way to fuel up. That was until the lovely guys at Tenzing got in touch and introduced me to their fabulous all natural energy drink.

Inspired by the Sherpa people and their special energising brew to fuel expeditions on the highest mountain in the world, Mt Everest, and named after Sherpa Tenzing Norgay- one of the first men to reach the top- I was more than honoured to give Tenzing a try. Made from six key ingredients of green tea, green coffee, guarana (seeds from berries that are twice as rich in natural caffeine than coffee!), Himalayan rock salt, lemon juice and beet sugar, there is absolutely nothing artificial about this energising drink.

Not only does it taste delicious, it is really refreshing and doesn’t leave you with the slump that other energy drinks can do after they burn out. I felt surprisingly awakened and didn’t have to feel bad about putting any nasty synthetic products into my body. In fact, after a tough gym session, I am actually sipping on one right now!

I’d definitely recommend this to any busy or not-so-busy-body, as it really does taste fab. It also doubles as a great alternative to a fizzy drink, for anybody trying to reduce their fizzy pop intake! I usually stick to water, but am definitely keen to pick up a few more Tenzing cans for when I’m feeling low on energy. Thanks Tenzing, you have introduced me to a real gem- sold!

Sister & Co.- The All Natural Company

Finding a cosmetic (or even edible) product on the high street that has absolutely no chemicals, preservatives or artificial alterations can prove to be pretty difficult, if not near-impossible! In fact, I’d not come across a skincare brand that only stocks all natural products until I was gifted a little tub of Sister & Co. lip tonic from a good friend for my birthday and did a little digging into the brand.

Beginning with organic cold pressed raw coconut oil, Sister & Co. now provide a whole collection of skin care products made with unprocessed raw superfoods. Although the products don’t last as long as the chemically enhanced ones that we see in the skincare market, which can last around three whole years (Sister & Co. up to one year), they are produced in small batches every twelve weeks and sent straight to market so are guaranteed to be fresh.

The range includes body scrubs, creams, hair drinks and lip tonics and they even have special products for men, mothers and babies. My Raw Coconut Lip Tonic With Rose Otto and Cardamom feels heavenly and I don’t have to worry that my skin is absorbing any nasty chemicals! A little pricey for a lip balm at £9, I would definitely say that it’s worth it- a natural conditioner to extensively hydrate your lips. See more from Sister & Co. right here.

Beauty and the Beast of Ideals

I was reading an article online, which addressed the issue of teenagers and what, as teens, we all may have done differently if only we’d have known what we know now. It discussed self-love, overcoming breakups and not conforming to what we’re told we’re supposed to look or act like. A great idea and a very helpful read for many I’m sure. Only there’s one thing that played on my mind. The same issues- lacking self-love, dealing with break ups terribly and aspiring to certain ideals- all still exist in the adult world. If we can dish out the advice to others, be that children, teenagers or peers, why can we not abide by it ourselves?

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

With holiday season in full swing, it’s vital that we keep our skin healthy and moisturised. Daily moisturising is key- I opt for day and night- as well as plenty of water of course! But when it comes to layering my skin with the thirst-quenching good stuff, my number one go-to moisturiser is Vita Coco Coconut Oil and I am OBSESSED!

It’s not every day you can say that you can eat your moisturiser. Well with Vita Coco you can. It’s natural, raw and organic, meaning no nasty chemicals to get in the way.  It’s also cold pressed therefore packed with all of it’s original goodness. It will keep your skin soft, hydrated and is my now not-so-secret way of maintaining my holiday glow throughout summer and beyond. Simply apply to your body (I would avoid adding to your face, as it’s a little… oily) wait to dry and you’re good to go. It’s especially great to wear before bed and if you want to give your feet some TLC just layer up the coconut oil, slip on your socks and dream the night away. You’ll wake up feeling silky smooth!

Available in 500ml or 750ml tubs for £9.99 and £14.50 respectively. You only need to use a tiny amount so one tub can last months! x
