My Health & Beauty Travel Essentials

So the weather here in the UK has been miserable for the last few weeks, leaving everybody feeling ready to book their 2018 getaway(/s). I love to travel, always choosing to visit as many hot destinations as my bank account allows, so you would think by now that I would have nailed packing light… Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. I’m a, ‘better too much than too little’ kind of gal. However, I do have a list of key items that I always pack no matter what. Take a look below at what items travel with me wherever I go:

Sister & Co.- The All Natural Company

Finding a cosmetic (or even edible) product on the high street that has absolutely no chemicals, preservatives or artificial alterations can prove to be pretty difficult, if not near-impossible! In fact, I’d not come across a skincare brand that only stocks all natural products until I was gifted a little tub of Sister & Co. lip tonic from a good friend for my birthday and did a little digging into the brand.

Beginning with organic cold pressed raw coconut oil, Sister & Co. now provide a whole collection of skin care products made with unprocessed raw superfoods. Although the products don’t last as long as the chemically enhanced ones that we see in the skincare market, which can last around three whole years (Sister & Co. up to one year), they are produced in small batches every twelve weeks and sent straight to market so are guaranteed to be fresh.

The range includes body scrubs, creams, hair drinks and lip tonics and they even have special products for men, mothers and babies. My Raw Coconut Lip Tonic With Rose Otto and Cardamom feels heavenly and I don’t have to worry that my skin is absorbing any nasty chemicals! A little pricey for a lip balm at £9, I would definitely say that it’s worth it- a natural conditioner to extensively hydrate your lips. See more from Sister & Co. right here.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash

I don’t particularly like to apply too many products to my face, as I believe that it’s best to let your skin breathe. I’m also very aware of the high amount of chemicals in most of these products, so feel it’s best to minimise this as much as possible- after all, anything that you apply to your skin and don’t wash off is absorbed.

Anyway, there’s only a few skincare items that I actually allow near my face and this is one of them… Tea Tree Facial Wash by The Body Shop. A refreshing organic tea tree based wash to open up your pores and remove impurities, leaving you with clearer skin. The item that I reach for first if I feel a blemish on it’s way. I also use this as part of my everyday routine, as it’s gentle enough to use daily.

It is recommended for blemished skin however I’m actually lucky enough not to suffer too much with outbreaks. I still find the wash perfect to awaken and freshen my face and if a spot does attempt to break loose, my Tea Tree Facial Wash usually does a very good job of keeping it away. An amazing one for anybody suffering with acne, but I also recommend it all round!

See what The Body Shop have to say below…

Our Community Trade organic tea tree oil comes from The Kenya Organic Oil Farmers’ Association (KOOFA), a co-operative of over 550 small-scale organic farmers around Mount Kenya National Park. Our products contain only pure leaf essential oil, made with hand-harvested leaves and gently steam-distilled for an exceptional-quality purifying essential oil. The leaves are steam distilled within 12 hours of harvest, using a gentle heat to ensure a high quality tea tree oil. Our trade helps provide the smallholder farmers of KOOFA with a steady income, which means that they can develop sustainable farming systems and fund community projects in their local area (The Body Shop, 2016).

There’s no scrimping on quality, rated 5 stars online by users and priced at £5.50 for a 250ml bottle, it’s actually a bit of a bargain. x

Nivea Hand, Face and Body

Staying moisturised is super important if we want to keep our skin healthy. Dry skin flakes, looks dull and can even become very uncomfortable- not what you want!! The most natural way to moisturise is to drink plenty of water, but sometimes our skin needs that little extra help. There are a million moisturisers to choose from on the high street but my all time favourite has to be Nivea’s Hand, Face and Body Cream. All the moisture that my body needs in one little tube.

Usually it’s recommended that separate moisturisers are used for your face, body and hands (thicker for the hands and body and lighter for the face), but the consistency of this cream means that it can be used everywhere and anywhere! I use mine on my face and body every morning and evening and then pop it in my bag to keep my hands moisturised all day long. It’s a particularly good buy if you’re planning travels, as it means that you don’t have to weight down your case with multiple moisturisers. It’s also really great for sensitive skin. What a dream!
