Tezenis Fitness_City

Best known for their super cute underwear and swimwear collections, Tezenis are out to let the world know about their activewear range. I headed to the Oxford Street store along with a bunch of other fitness blogger babes to find out just what Tezenis have to offer.

Treated to our very own kit, we could experience the collection first hand. Although most of the girls opted for the black matching outfits with floral detail  (that were amazingly transitional- think gym to brunch- and fitted like a dream), I chose to go with the Piping Basic Gym Legging in Grey and Pink with the matching Cup Detail Gym Top shown below.

Once we all looked the part, we were ready to work up a sweat with 4fitnesssake‘s Chiara Pellegrino, who by the way, is an absolute hun! The workout used bodyweight and resistance band exercises in a dance-like manner to get our full body aching and toning. We kicked, dipped and jumped our way to the end, finishing with a mini routine combining all of the exercises that we had carried out. Even though I’m not the most natural dancer, it was definitely fun to exercise to the beat and learning the routines seemed to take my mind off of the actual exercise. Bingo!

Of course there was a photographer at hand, Domenic Pendino to be precise, to capture the entire event. See some of Dom’s pictures below…

All in all, the event was lovely. Such a nice way to bring together girls with a real interest in fitness and health. The Tezenis activewear collection is ideal for anybody who wants to feel great when working out without having to spend a bomb on clothing. It’s feminine, flattering and there’s a variety of mix and match styles to choose from. Check it out for yourself right here or pop into store to see the collection in person!

Puma Velvet Rope Collection

Puma have taken a nod towards the red carpet with their new Velvet Rope collection. Hence the name, the pack takes inspiration from the velvet rope that would typically be seen at high profile events. The idea being that we can step beyond the velvet rope and into the spotlights and fierce world that lies behind it. It’s workout gear with a fashion edge and deserves a place in any activewear wardrobe.

The pack has recently launched on ASOS and I was lucky enough to get involved in the campaign wearing the ever so comfortable Active Training Explosive Bodysuit. Check out a snippet of it below…

Velvet Rope comprises of a variety of footwear and apparel, all adopting an olive, black and gold colour scheme. If like me you wear your gym kit to more than just the gym then I’d say that you will love this range. Here are a few of my faves…

Bra’nalysis with Brooks and Runners Need

Did you know that a sports bra should never see in a birthday? Sad, I know! But that’s how often you should be changing your sports bra. I have to say, this is news to my ears. As a fitness blogger and instructor, I live in sportswear, so you can only imagine my collection of bras (I have a full drawer dedicated just to them and it’s not the easiest to get shut)! I have ones dating from one week old to, well, three, maybe four years back… Eeeek. The ladies at Brooks would be going mad to hear this. In fact, it was them who opened my eyes to the importance of sports bras- from finding the perfect fit to how regularly we should be replacing them!

Along with a load of runner babes, I headed to Runners Need Holborn last week, where the lovely Brooks team were waiting to kit us out with our new Brooks bras- after a thorough fit session of course!

After trying only two bras, I knew that I had found the one. It fit perfectly around my chest- hugging my body with no gaps, yet not too tight- and the cups fit just right. Typically I’d gone for the black one (it’s just so easy to wear!!) and once we were all fitted, we sat down for a talk on just why being fitted is so important.

So, here’s my best interpretation without absolutely mind boggling you… Breasts have no muscle, instead they consist of ligaments. This means that we can’t exercise to perk up our breasts; we simply have to look after them! When we move, so does our chest and in more than one direction! Brooks describe the movement pattern as a figure eight- so up, down and side to side. By purchasing the correct fitting sports bra, we prevent/reduce movement, hence preventing the ligaments from weakening.

They also told us that women who wear an ill-fitting sports bra, have on average a running stride length that is 4cm shorter than those who have a sports bra that fits perfectly. That’s a whopping 10 minute difference in marathon time! Wow.

After a lot of shocked faces and a look into more of the Brooks styles, we took to the streets of London to put our new bras to the test. Stopping for a group picture mid run of course!!

We were greeted back at the shop with prosecco and had time to mingle, while everyone discussed how great the bras were! All in all it was a very productive evening- we learnt a lot, networked and worked out! What more could you want… Now, I think it’s time that I have a little clear out! Thanks Brooks and to our amazing hosts at Runners Need! xx

BRAND NEW! New Balance Bicester Village Premium Outlet Store

Last week, I was invited to join team New Balance at their brand new Bicester Village store. Home to many premium and luxury brands, Bicester Village is the destination for anybody searching for quality products at great prices making it an ideal spot for New Balance to make home for their new outlet arrival. As well as being the brand’s most premium outlet store, it is also the first performance sports offering available at Bicester Village, so you can only imagine how excited I was to pay it a visit.

The Store

The boutique sized store fits perfectly with the usual New Balance style and has clearly been designed with much care and thought. It’s clean interior and bright lighting allows for the products to be show-cased to their full potential. There is also a clever use of storage, with hidden drawers holding masses of trainers- ready to try on and buy at the drop of a hat. No waiting around here!

There’s a clear divide between women’s and menswear with each having their own half of the store, so there’s no confusion as to where to head for what. The staff are also amazingly friendly and surprisingly well-knowledged, especially as the store only opened earlier this month.

It’s an intimate setting compared to their recent Oxford Street haven, but means that it only has room for the best products…

My Top Picks

As part of the day, I was asked to pick out my favourite pieces… Not. A. Problem!

I have to say, I did spend most of my time running between the New Balance x J.Crew section and the changing rooms with a few cheeky stops by the trainers! Although my usual style is pretty monochrome (all black/no colour whatsoever/maybe some grey), the fit and style of the bright orange and blue set had me swooning and I just had to add it to my shopping bag! I also nabbed the most dreamy drop back vest top, a striped crop and two pairs of black trainers, of which one pair glows in the dark!!

I practically live in sportswear, so loved being able to try on all of the premium activewear pieces- the ideal additions to my athleisure wardrobe.

The Best Places to Buy Cheap (But Great) Sportswear

Every high street retailer seems to have brought out a sportswear range now and most of them look pretty amazing. But if you’re actually wanting to wear your gymwear to the gym (or for any other sport for that matter) then it needs to be of good quality. That’s no constantly pulling up leggings, fading after the first wash or embarrassing rips mid-session! Here are my top three picks of the best low-budget activewear ranges with surprisingly good quality!

Primark

Known for their extremely low prices, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Primark sportswear. Aesthetically, I was impressed; bright pops of colour alongside patterned leggings and plainer basics. With lots of variety and on-trend colours, they cover pretty much every visible need. The range also isn’t lacking in options with a huge selection of sports bras, leggings, tops and jackets. So far so good, but I was still sceptical about how they would perform once I had them on…

Primark, I apologise for ever doubting you. My leggings fit perfectly and I didn’t have to adjust them once throughout my entire day! The sports bra also fit well and looked amazing- although I don’t have too much to support up top, I felt secure and confident all day.

I bought the Navy Mesh Leggings at £8 and Padded Sports Bra with Mesh Back in coral and grey for £4 each.

Forever 21

My absolute all time fave. Lots of variety, amazing prices & new options throughout the season to keep you coming back for more (eeeek!). I recently bought the £13 Medium Impact Sports Bra and have my eye on the Active Cross-Back Jumpsuit for £23!

H&M

Stylish and affordable, you will be looking and feeling like fire in the new H&M activewear range. The colours, the shapes, the prices. Everything is on point. I have my eye on the £17.99 Medium Support Sports Bra.

Know any other great quality, low price sportswear ranges? I’d love to hear! x

George at ASDA Sportswear
